Quiz on the AP First-Team All-Pro wide receivers

We’re only a few weeks away from the start of the NFL season, which means veterans are fighting to save their jobs, rookies are vying for spots, and Terrell Owens is still looking for work.
Yep, the erratic, 47-year-old pass-catcher still feels he is in NFL form despite being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
“I have no question in my mind that I am capable of playing in the National Football League today.”
I’m not a scumbag.
You don’t forget how to ride a bike once you know how to ride one.” Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day.
Even though Owens hasn’t played in an NFL game in nearly a decade, he is the last wide receiver to be named to the AP All-Pro First Team for two different teams.
Now, in five minutes, name as many of the last wide receivers to make the Associated Press First-Team All-Pro in the Super Bowl era (1967-present) for each NFL franchise.
Best of luck!

Quiz on the AP First-Team All-Pro Tight Ends

Jacksonville’s Tim Tebow experiment has come to an end.
The Jaguars confirmed on Tuesday that they have parted ways with the 34-year-old quarterback-turned-tight end.
Tebow’s release comes just days after he had not one, but two laughably bad block attempts in a preseason game against the New York Jets.
the Browns of Cleveland
As one might assume, the NFL world, as well as head coach Urban Meyer and even Tebow himself, had a few things to say about the conclusion of Tebow’s tenure in Duval.
This will most likely be “Tim Tebow, NFL player’s” final appearance, but who knows, maybe a team will invite him to camp next offseason merely to increase jersey sales.
Which leads us to the topic of today’s quiz.
While Tebow the tight end did not have the opportunity to make an impact on the game, others from that position have.
Only 23 tight ends have been named to the Associated Press All-Pro First Team in the NFL’s history.
So, how many of these all-time greats can you name in five minutes with that in mind?
Best of luck!

Is signing Pro Bowl cornerback Byron Jones the correct decision for the Dolphins?

The Miami Dolphins couldn’t have predicted how things would turn out when they signed Pro Bowl cornerback Byron Jones to a huge contract last year.
The former Dallas Cowboys cornerback was acquired by the Fins to join fellow star cornerback Xavien Howard in forming one of the league’s scariest secondary units.
Regrettably, such has not been the case.
Instead, the Dolphins’ front staff is juggling a tangled contract scenario involving both players.
Byron Jones is the sixth most paid cornerback in the NFL. He inked a five-year, $82.5 million contract with Miami last year, which included a $10.5 million signing bonus and $54,375,000 in guaranteed money.
Jones will earn an average of $16.5 million per season under the new contract, making him the league’s sixth highest paid cornerback.
Jalen Ramsey of the Los Angeles Rams earns the greatest money, with $21 million per season.
Jones will earn a $14 million base salary and a signing bonus of roughly $2 million this season.
Xavien Howard is dissatisfied Xavien Howard was the greatest cornerback in the NFL in 2020.
With ten interceptions, the 28-year-old led the league for the second time in his career.
In his six seasons in the NFL, his cornerback partner Byron Jones has only four interceptions.
Howard, who boycotted all of Miami’s OTAs until reluctantly reporting to training camp this week to avoid the hefty fines he would face if he continued to hold out, is well aware of this.
Howard is seeking a new contract that reflects his outstanding performance; however, he only signed a five-year, $75.25 million pact with the team in 2019.
He issued a lengthy message on his social media platforms yesterday, stating why he is dissatisfied with the Miami Dolphins team.
Howard specifically mentioned the financial disparity between himself and Jones in his statement.
“I’m one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL, and those who suggest otherwise are lying.”
The jobs I’m given, such as shadowing the opposition’s best players with a little assistance, demonstrate my worth, my value.
Despite this, I am my team’s second-highest aid cornerback, and it isn’t even close.
The two-time Pro Bowl cornerback is looking for a trade since the Dolphins are unlikely to offer him the huge contract he wants.
Should the Dolphins be kicking themselves for signing Byron Jones?
Yes, but not because Xavien Howard has demanded a move.
Miami will come to regret signing Byron because his performance has fallen far short of his compensation.
Jones has 37 tackles, four pass defenses, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and zero sacks in his first season with the Dolphins.
These aren’t bad numbers, but they’re not what the team would expect from the NFL’s fifth-best cornerback.
Especially when his teammate Xavien Howard outperformed him in every metric.
If Jones were to play at a Pro Bowl level, Howard would have lot less to complain about, and the club would be in a much better position.

Cole Beasley isn’t anti-vax or pro-vax when it comes to the COVID-19 vaccination and NFL protocols.

Cole Beasley Says Players Need ‘Proper Knowledge’ on Vaccines: ‘I’m Neither Anti or Pro Vax’ In a statement released Wednesday, Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley attempted to explain why he hasn’t taken the COVID-19 vaccine, saying that he believes NFL players don’t have all of the pertinent information.
He also expressed dissatisfaction with the league’s modified COVID-19 protocols, which handle vaccinated and unvaccinated players differently.
“I’m neither anti-vax nor pro-vax.”
“I’m a pro-choice person,” Beasley stated in a statement released on Wednesday.
“The problem here is that information is being kept from players in order for them to be persuaded in a direction with which they may not be comfortable.”
“There should be complete transparency regarding information when dealing with a player’s health and safety.
We need to know that we are fully informed and that people who are in a position to assist us will always do so based on our unique circumstances.” Here’s the rest of the statement: “Without all of the necessary information, a player can feel confused and unsure of a very personal decision,” Beasley wrote about immunizations.
“That makes a player feel unprotected, and it raises questions about future themes surrounding health and our capacity to make smart judgments,” Beasley noted in June.
“If you’re afraid of me, stay away.”
“Period,” Beasley said in a Twitter statement [sic].
“I might die of covid, but I’d rather die genuinely living,” Beasley said, adding that with NFL training camps started, he wanted to be a voice for players who are afraid or unwilling to get vaccinated.
“Some people say I’m being selfish by making this a’me’ thing,” Beasley stated in a statement released on Wednesday.
“It’s all about the young players who don’t have a voice and who are reaching out to me every day because they’re being told they’ll be cut if they don’t get vaxxed.”
“So, once unvaccinated players are cut, they’re losing a dream they’ve worked their whole lives for over a vaccine that has been shown to not save people from developing COVID,” Beasley continued.
Others, including players and coaches, have been hesitant to be vaccinated.
In a since-deleted tweet, Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins stated the NFL’s new COVID-19 outbreak and vaccine regulations are making him “worry” about his future in the league.
“I never imagined I’d say this, but being forced to injure my team because I don’t want to take the vaccine is making me doubt my NFL future,” Hopkins tweeted.
The NFL’s revised rules allow immunized athletes to return to near-normalcy, according to Ryan Tannehill.
Unvaccinated players, on the other hand, are subject to a slew of restrictions.
The league will pay unvaccinated players $14,650 if they breach COVID-19 regulations this season, according to ESPN’s Jenna Laine.
As players arrived at training camps on Tuesday, the NFL sent teams updated COVID-19 camp and preseason protocols.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, another charge outlined in the document was a $50,000 fine for failing to submit a necessary COVID-19 test.
Beasley said the major goal now that the league’s protocols are in place is to keep him and other players safe.
“Safety isn’t just about avoiding the COVID virus,” Beasley explained.
“Our health is now and in the years ahead, which we are attempting to protect with our personal decision by doing everything we did in our protocols throughout the extremely successful 2020 NFL season.”

Charles Barkley, a Hall of Famer, believes the Covid vaccination should be MANDATORY in all professional sports leagues.

All professional sports clubs should require players to be vaccinated if they want to play, according to NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley.
TNT basketball, a 58-year-old ferocious 58-year-old, was open in his criticism of individuals who refuse to take the Covid-19 vaccine.
‘Can you image if one of these unvaccinated people infects one of these athletes’ children, wives, girlfriends, mothers and fathers, and they die as a result of some pointless conspiracy nonsense?
He told CNBC, “I believe that would be horrible.”
All professional sports leagues, according to NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley, 58, should make it essential for players to obtain the vaccine in order to participate. Barkley compared playing in a professional sports league to working in a corporate environment.
‘There’s s*** you can’t do at work and s*** you have to do at work,’ he explained.
Therefore, every business has regulations, and I believe one of them should get that males must be vaccinated.’ Up to 80% of NFL players, 90% of NBA players, and 85% of MLB players have had at least one shot.
Barkley stated, “Yes, I’m vaccinated,” when a surge in Covid cases erupted across the United States owing to the Delta version.
During a video conference with reporters in March, Golden State Warriors guard Kent Bazemore responded “no sir” to the vaccine, adding, “Everyone should be inoculated.”
‘The only individuals who aren’t vaccinated are jerks,’ he continued.
However, not all professional sportsmen in the United States agree with him, with numerous athletes publicly declaring their unwillingness to be vaccinated.
‘I don’t really see myself getting it any time soon, unless I’m forced to somehow,’ Golden State Warriors shooting guard Andrew Wiggins answered. Wiggins’ teammate Kent Bazemore said ‘no sir’ in a video conference with reporters in March when asked if he would get vaccinated.
Hector Neris, the closer for the Philadelphia Phillies in Major League Baseball, has joined a growing list of anti-vax pro athletes.
‘I don’t want to receive the shot,’ he remarked before the Mets’ series opening in April.
‘I think it’s a personal decision,’ Phillies manager Joe Girardi said of Neris.
So whatever the player decides, I will support him no matter what.’ MLB’s Phillies’ closer Hector Neris has joined the band of anti-vax pro athletes, and the team’s manager Joe Giradi said, “whatever the player decides, I will support him no matter what.”
All Tier 1 employees, including coaches, front-office executives, equipment managers, and scouts, are required to be vaccinated under the NFL’s requirements.
According to NFL restrictions, anti-vaxxers Rick Dennison, an assistant coach for the Minnesota Vikings, and Cole Papovich, a co-offensive line coach for the New England Patriots, will both be out next season.
DeAndre Hopkins, a wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals of the NFL, deleted a tweet earlier this month in which he indicated he would ‘doubt’ his future in the league if not taking the vaccine could affect his team’s chances this season.
His tweet came on the heels of an NFL memo stating that if a game is canceled due to an epidemic among unvaccinated players and cannot be rescheduled within the season’s 18-month window, a forfeit will be issued.
The memo further said that if a forfeit happens, both teams’ game checks will be forfeited.
Hopkins then posted, ‘Freedom?’ after deleting the first message.
‘After an NFL letter said that if a forfeit occurred due to an outbreak among unvaccinated players, both teams will lose their game checks, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins of the Arizona Cardinals was loud about his anti-vax views on Twitter.

Xavien Howard asks the Dolphins for a trade: ‘I’m just here so I don’t get fined.’

The 28-year-old agreed to a five-year, $75 million contract, making him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL at the time.
While coming off his greatest season in the league in 2020, he is due $12 million in non-guaranteed money in 2021.
Jalen Ramsey ($20 million AVG), Marlon Humphrey ($19.5 million AAV), Tre’Davious White ($17.25 million AAV), Darius Slay ($16.6 million AAV), and teammate Byron Jones ($16.5 million AAV) all have higher contracts than Howard.
Howard and his agency never asked for a new contract, preferring to propose alternatives such as more guaranteed money.
The Dolphins turned down those pitches, according to the Baylor product.
Howard was chosen 38th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft by Miami.
During his five-year career, he has 55 pass deflections and 22 interceptions to go along with two Pro Bowl appearances and a First Team All-Pro selection in 2020.
Regarding Howard’s future, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said on “SportsCenter” on Sunday that many in the NFL believe the Houston Texans could be a good fit for the two-time Pro Bowler.
This is due to the fact that Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has asked for a trade and has stated that he would accept a transfer to Miami.

Randall Cobb, a former Pro Bowl wide receiver, is apparently being pursued by the Green Bay Packers.

The Green Bay Packers received excellent news earlier this week when it was revealed that Aaron Rodgers’ contract problem would be resolved through a contract renegotiation.
For the time being, at least.
We’re hearing whispers that Rodgers and the rest of his Packers teammates will welcome back an old acquaintance as training camp begins on Tuesday.
Green Bay is reportedly working on a deal with the Houston Texans to bring back veteran wide receiver Randall Cobb, according to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero.

Earl Campbell’s’sledgehammer running’ earned him a spot on the NFL 100 at No. 66.

The Athletics’ initiative to select the 100 greatest players in football history is known as the NFL 100.
We’ll reveal new members of the list every day until the season starts, starting with the No.
On Wednesday, September 1st, one player will be crowned.
8.Earl Campbell cut to his right after receiving a handoff from Dan Pastorini.
A Los Angeles Rams linebacker who had been chosen to the Pro Bowl six times stood ready for the rookie rushing back in the hole, ready to tackle him for a loss.Isiah Robertson squared up and readied for contact.
Instead of delivering the hit, Robertson absorbed one, burying Campbell’s head hard in his sternum. It was a collision that was felt from the 23-yard line to the 900 section of the world’s first domed stadium.
It was felt all the way from Amarillo, Texas, to South Padre Island, Texas.
From the NFL offices to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, it was palpable. As Robertson walked down the green carpet, Campbell kept trucking to his right.
As his jersey was torn off by a would-be tackler, he was finally dragged down 16 yards later by three Rams. “Earl flat ran over him,” an unbelieving Pastorini recalled. On the CBS broadcast, analyst George Allen, a long-time coach, labeled it “sledgehammer running.”
Later, the former Cleveland Browns running back claimed it was the hardest hit he’d ever seen.

The 49ers and All-Pro LB Fred Warner have agreed to a five-year, $95 million contract deal.

The 49ers and All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner have agreed to a five-year, $95 million contract extension (Twitter link via ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter).
The new contract will keep him in the league through 2026, making him the highest-paid inside linebacker in league history.
Warner, a former BYU third-round pick, was due to enter the free agent pool next spring.
The Niners wouldn’t let him go without a new contract, giving him a huge raise to overtake Bobby Wagner as the league’s highest-paid ILB.
At least, that’s the title he now holds; Darius Leonard of the Indianapolis Colts could dethrone him in the coming weeks.
When questioned about a new deal for Warner in May, head coach Kyle Shanahan responded, “I want to get it done personally.”
“I feel like I’d say the same thing about him as I did about [George] Kittle [last year] when we were talking about it.”
I just think it’ll be a matter of time.
“I understand he isn’t in his free agency year or anything like that, so it isn’t always on my mind.”
But Fred is a guy who I intend to keep around for the rest of my life and who has earned it.
Wagner has a flawless attendance record as a pro, having played 95% of the team’s snaps over the last three seasons.
In 2020, he was named First-Team All-Pro after recording 125 tackles and earning the No. 1 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.
By far the best off-ball linebacker
Warner has always stated that he wants to be a “Niner for life,” and he now has a contract that will cover the majority of his NFL career.
