As No. 34 on the NFL 100, Gino Marchetti’s larger-than-life legacy continues to inspire many.

The Athletics’ initiative to select the 100 greatest players in football history is known as the NFL 100.
We’ll reveal new members of the list every day until the season starts, starting with the No.
On Wednesday, September 1st, one player will be crowned.
8.Gino Marchetti, one of the most formidable defensive lineman of all time and, to many, the epitome of The Greatest Generation, has left an indelible impression on Keith Carter.
Marchetti fought in World War II, spoke out for racial equality more than a decade before the Civil Rights Movement, and went on to become a wealthy restaurateur following his illustrious football career. Carter is currently the offensive line coach for the Tennessee Titans, and Marchetti, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, was his grandfather.
