(AP) — Trevor Lawrence’s professional debut began with a sack and a fumble, hardly ideal but not alarming for the Jaguars.
The No. 1 overall choice in the NFL draft bounced back with a couple of outstanding throws and a 23-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns in his first preseason game.
Lawrence took over for Gardner Minshew and threw for 71 yards on 6 of 9 passes in two series.
The most significant aspect for Jacksonville is that the former Clemson standout was able to leave TIAA Bank Field in good health.
Once Lawrence was sacked on the team’s opening play and recovered his fumble, there had to be some concern.
