According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, both Colts quarterback Carson Wentz and All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson are expected to play against the Seahawks in Week 1 as they recuperate from recent foot injuries.
Both Wentz and Nelson were expected to be out for five to twelve weeks after undergoing comparable procedures, according to the team.
On August 2, Wentz had surgery, while Nelson had surgery on August 3.
The Colts want to have a clearer idea of both players’ rehabilitation condition once they pass the two-week post-surgery mark, according to ESPN.
In Wentz’s absence, Sam Ehlinger, a sixth-round rookie, and Jacob Eason, a fourth-round pick in 2020, are splitting first-team snaps in practice.
In Wentz’s absence, head coach Frank Reich had earlier stated that Eason was in the “driver’s seat” to be the starter.
After being traded from the Eagles in the summer, Wentz is in his first training camp with the Colts.
Once the Eagles selected him with the No. 1 overall pick, he spent the first five years of his career in Philadelphia.

Nelson is the number one.
In each of his first three seasons, he has been awarded first-team All-Pro and has appeared in the Pro Bowl.
In his NFL career, he has yet to miss a game.
