NFL superstars Alvin Kamara and Tyrann Mathieu took to Twitter to criticize New York Giants president John Mara for saying the NFL’s Competition Committee was “sick and tired of the talking” on the field.
“We get kind of sick & weary of the taunting that does go on from time to time on the field,” says #Giants owner John Mara, who is also a member of the Competition Committee.

If a player receives two taunting penalties in a game, they will be expelled and fined or suspended, depending on the severity of the offense.
“(The Competition Committee) gets kind of sick and weary of the discussion that does go on from time to time on the field,” Mara remarked.
We attempted to strike a balance between sportsmanship and enabling the players to have fun, and while there is always a narrow line to walk, none of us like seeing that.
It’s simply a issue of whether you can have regulations that can be enforced without detracting from the fun of the game, but no one wants to see a player harass another player.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t think so.
“I believe the rest of the Competition Committee feels the same way.” During the first weekend of preseason games, fans and players got a taste of what to expect in terms of taunting penalties.
On Twitter, what did Kamara and Mathieu have to say about John Mara?
Tyrann Mathieu of the Kansas City Chiefs was one of the first NFL players to respond to Mara’s comments, tweeting, “So shut up and play? Got it.”
I got it.
https://t.co/9YrOmSIBup — Tyrann Mathieu (@Mathieu_Era) August 17, 2021 Mathieu’s reaction refers to Laura Ingraham’s infamous comments about NBA superstar LeBron James on Fox News.
Ingraham raged into James in a clip on her show after he lambasted former US President Donald Trump.
Ingraham received a lot of backlash for her distasteful segment on James, with many accusing her of being racist. She said she wasn’t interested in political advice from “someone who gets paid $100 million a year to bounce a ball” and added that James should “shut up and dribble.”
Green Bay Packers safety Adrian Amos also responded to John Mara’s statements on Twitter, calling them “corny as hell.” New Orleans Saints star running back Alvin Kamara called Mara’s words “corny as hell.”
“I blame that terrible rap music,” he said, referring to what critics of the genre – typically elderly people – remark when pointing out bad connotations linked with hip-hop/rap music.
“I blame that awful rap music” https://t.co/tu22x4QD0T — Adrian Amos (@_SmashAmos31) August 17, 2021 The majority of NFL fans and players are already unhappy with the league’s new taunting penalties, and Mara’s comments further fueled to the flames.
