The Jacksonville Jaguars will try to win their seventh game in a row against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round on Saturday. The Chiefs, who are the conference’s top seed, were given a bye in the Wild Card Round. A bye week is usually beneficial to teams because it allows them to get more rest, but Kansas City is hosting one of the hottest teams in the AFC.
On Super Wild Card Weekend, Jacksonville did the unthinkable by rallying from a 27-0 deficit against the Los Angeles Chargers. Trevor Lawrence bounced back from four interceptions with four touchdowns, leading the Jaguars to a stunning 31-30 victory.
It won’t be easy to beat the Chiefs, who have been one of the best teams in the NFL since Patrick Mahomes broke out in 2018. Andy Reid’s team knows how to capitalize and win, so Lawrence and his teammates must be much more focused if they are to advance.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Kansas City Chiefs Spread, Moneyline, and Total
The Chiefs are currently favored by 8.5 points at several online sportsbooks. This large number comes as no surprise given the oddsmakers’ high regard for Kansas City. The Chiefs are 5-11-1 against the spread, but that’s because they’re always double-digit favorites.
By Kansas City standards, the 8.5-point spread is thus relatively low. The spread is a generous number for Jacksonville, who have gone 7-2-1 against the spread in their last ten games, printing money for some bettors. That momentum gives us hope that they’ll cover again on Saturday, even in a difficult road game.
We believe that neither side is appealing on the moneyline. At -435, the Chiefs don’t offer much value, and it’s difficult to bet on the Jaguars to win outright when Kansas City is 7-1 at home this season.
The total is set at 53 points, and we’re betting on the over on Saturday. Neither defense is particularly strong, and both offenses are capable of scoring at will. Mahomes and Lawrence are expected to light up the scoreboard for four quarters.
Overall, Jacksonville covering the spread is the best bet.
Jaguars vs. Chiefs Player Prop Bets
To keep up with Mahomes and his teammates, Lawrence must have a career day. We like the over on his passing touchdowns prop of 1.5 because the former No. 1 overall pick will be throwing early and often. Lawrence scored three touchdowns in the second half last week and two earlier this season against Kansas City. Lawrence is a viable bet to throw for multiple touchdowns again this weekend, as the Chiefs have allowed the most passing touchdowns in the NFL this season (33).
